I am a Psychotherapist, Adjunct Professor, and Policy Practitioner. While I am Licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners, I have attended and facilitated various mental health trainings domestically and internationally. My approach is holistic, collaborative, and strength-based. I have a particular interest in incorporating awareness of marginalized identities into mental health treatment. Being an Adjunct Professor at Baylor University’s Diana Garland School of Social Work has enabled me to balance the roles of Educator and Group Facilitator. As a Policy Practitioner, I advocate for social justice and social welfare policies that align with the National Association of Social Workers’ Code of Ethics.
In 2017, my brother, a victim of a hate crime, was murdered in Houston, TX. For the first time in my life, I accessed mental health treatment through my employee assistance program (EAP). My experience was awful, and, everything I thought it would be. The office location and appointment times were inconvenient, and the Counselor lacked cultural competence. In 2022, I founded iKultivate to provide out-of-the-box therapy for teens and adults. My mission is to kultivate wellness through introspection, education, and connection!
