Meet Dr. Bianca Smith

Your Clinical Strategist

Are you looking for more than a "counselor"? Are you are looking for a Clinical Strategist who understands the weight of your legacy and the complexity of your world?

I am Dr. Bianca Smith, and my journey was defined by a principled refusal to accept the status quo of a mental health industry that often prioritizes convenience over competence and checklists over cultural depth. After losing my brother to a hate crime in 2017, I experienced some of the many challenges within the mental health industry: a lack of cultural sensitivity, providers pathologizing survival strategies, and "one-size-fits-all" interventions. I founded iKultivate to be the antidote. As a former Professor at Baylor University and a Global Mental Health Trainer, my perspective is informed by research and international practice. Whether I am teaching graduate students or facilitating trauma work in Kenya, my focus remains on the "Psychological Architecture" of the individual. I have intentionally limited my private practice to a concierge model, allowing me to provide high-access, interdisciplinary care for individuals. Licensed in TX, IL, and PA,  I partner with my clients to move beyond 'coping' and toward psychological sovereignty; kultivating a life defined by their own values rather than the pressures of systemic harm.

My Education & Experience

My undergraduate and graduate education are rooted in behavioral science. I earned my Bachelor of Science from Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, TX) where I majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Victim Services Management. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Baylor University (Waco, TX). During my graduate studies at Baylor University, I majored in Clinical Social Work. I studied abroad in both Kenya and Costa Rica. Studying abroad increased my cultural sensitivity and cultural humility – interpersonal skills that have enhanced my therapeutic alliances.

Since 2010, I have served teens and adults in clinical and community-based settings. I also have experience in substance use prevention and intervention in academic settings, including curriculum development. I have over 10 years of experience counseling individuals battling substance-related and addictive disorders. Therapeutic tools I utilize most often include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Impact Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
